Experts call for better Pak-Afghan ties

FAISALABAD:

Pakistan and Afghanistan can generate huge revenues by increasing bilateral trade, especially in agricultural and industrial sectors, speakers at the concluding session of “Capacity Development for Agricultural Trade in Afghanistan and Pakistan” said here on Monday.

In the two-week international training workshop, which was organised by University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture, was aimed at boosting trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan. American instructors Dr Glyn Bledsoe and Dr Barbara Rasco imparted training to 38 participants, who hailed from different parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bledsoe said that the workshop would lead to higher volumes of trade and better business opportunities.

Expressing her views, Dr Rasco said that the workshop would help promote agribusiness in Afghanistan and Pakistan, adding that she had trained 83 women in Afghanistan.
