Agriculture Land: ‘Industrialisation taking over’
FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan said on Wednesday agricultural land was being taken over by industrial units and housing societies. Addressing the 19th convocation of the university as the nominee of UAF Chancellor and Punjab Governor Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa, Khan said agricultural land in Pakistan was 0.13 hectares (ha) per capita, adding that it was 0.42ha per capita in 1961. He said the per-capita agriculture land was 0.29ha in 1972 and 0.24ha in 1981, adding that it would reduce to 0.11ha in 2020.
