Kitchen gardening: 80,000 seed packets prepared for distribution
FAISALABAD: The Punjab government has prepared 80,000 seed packets of various vegetables on automatic machines for distribution among people under the kitchen gardening programme for winter season, aimed at promoting a culture of growing vegetables at houses throughout the province.
Ayub Agriculture Research Institute (AARI) Faisalabad Director General Dr Noor-ul-Islam said this while chairing a meeting held at the institute to review progress and issues related to the Fruit and Vegetable Development Project Punjab Phase-II.
He said the provincial government had given a task to the research department to prepare 200,000 seed packets of winter vegetables for distribution among people, adding efforts were being stepped up to achieve the task.
Islam said the main objective of the fruit and vegetable development project was production of true types of and disease-free plants with the help of researchers. For this purpose, he said, sufficient resources had been provided to the research institute concerned.
