PFUJ demands arrest of culprits behind killing of senior journalist of Mirpurkhas



ISLAMABAD, Dec 7:- Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has demanded that the Sindh government to take steps for immediate arrest of the killers of senior journalist and President of Mirpurkhas Press Club Sultan Mehmood Chandio.
Chandio was gunned down allegedly by four persons identified as Saleem, Waseem, Aleem and Nadeem, in front of his house on Sunday.
Following the alleged attack by four brothers, Chandio was rushed to civil hospital Mirpurkhas for first aid but succumbed to sever wounds.
He has left behind a wife, 6 children and a mother to mourn the tragic death.
Late Chandio was in the profession since 1989 and worked for various newspapers and was presently attached with Sindhi language channel, AWAZ (voice). He was not on the list of paid employees of the channel and was occasionally being paid some meager amount.
On the complaint of Barkat Chandio, case has been registered against the four real brothers including Saleem, Waseem, Aleem and Nadeem, on Monday early morning, however no arrest has yet been reported.
It may be noted on Nov 27, 2007, senior journalist Zubair Ahmed Mujahid, of Mirpurkhas, was killed by unknown armed men when he was going to his house along with his colleague at bike in Scheme No 2, Satellite town. His killers could not be traced out so far despite passage of over 3 years.
The PFUJ urged upon the Sindh government to arrest the killers in to both the incidents to dispense justice according to the law.
