Kaira’s advice to media
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira elaborated on a statement of President Asif Ali Zardari which quoted the President as advising journalists to quit their jobs if they were not getting salaries from their respective organizations.

Talking to reporters at a function organized for the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Kaira said the President had asked the journalists to devise an effective mechanism to get their salaries or pending dues from their organizations.

He said that what was required was that the media workers should get mobilized to secure their rightful demands in a peaceful and amicable manner.

Asked as to what the government could do in this regard, the minister said this particular issue does not actually fall in its purview.

However, he assured necessary legislation would be carried out according to Part-VI of Schedule-II of the landmark 18th Amendment to facilitate journalists. -APP
