PFUJ concerned murder of journalist in Sialkot
Islamabad; Oct. 18 :- Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have expressed grave concern over the brutal murder of Mehar Muhammad Akmal, a Silkot - bassed reporter of a private TV channel (Punjab T.V.) and Correspondent Daily "Asas", , and demanded immediate arrest of killers.

According to the reports, Akmal was brutally gunned down by nine armed motorcyclists in front of his office cum car showroom at Iman Sahib Road, Silkot city on night between Saturday and Sunday.

Two men Faizan and Riaz and a women who were passing by were also seriously injured in this ambush.

The area police on the report of Amir Suhail, younger brother of the Journalist Mehar Muhammad Akmal and his friends Faizan and Roia were sitting in front of their office cum car show room at Imam Sahib Road when nine armed men including Tahir Mukhtar alias Kudda, Sahain alias Sahi, Ali Butt, Adana Aslam, Anjum Masseeh Alias Kugga and Shahib Tanver came riding on motorcycles and resorted to inscriminate firing on Akmal and his friends, causing serious injures.

All the nine accused then fled while firing in the air. The injured were taken to Government Allama Iqba Memorail Hospital Silkot in critical condition where journalist Mehar Muhammad Akmal succumbed to injuries before any medical aid.

The Journalists in Silakot, Deska, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur, Chawinda and Badinage have observed a strike and wore black arm bands as a mark of protest aganist this brutal murder.

PFUJ expressing concern over this tragic incident demanded the Punjab government to ensure immediate arrest of the killers involved in this case and put them to justice.

PFUJ also consoled with the family in a message praying for eternal peace for the departed soul.
